In a 1922 Baltimore, MD city directory, George Dewey was listed as Ship's Master; he was 24 years old.

George Dewey was Master of the SS Onondaga, a merchant ship, when it was torpedoed and sunk in the Caribbean during WWII. See Memorial #134760640
His brother, Leslie, had died 10 days earlier when his ship, MS Oneida, was also torpedoed and sunk in the Caribbean.
