Melba Fay Stanczak, 87, of Bakersfield, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on July 29, 2014 at her home in Bakersfield, California. Melba was born on June 14, 1927 in Kingsmill, Texas. She was the tenth of eleven children born to Nancy Elizabeth Campbell and J.L. Campbell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry John Stanczak (Stan); her parents; and four brothers, Bud, Doyle, Royal and Loyal Campbell; and five sisters, Lacie Coffman, Mona V. Broyles, Cleta Mae Campbell, Thelma Ray Campbell and Wilma Jean Fleming. She is survived by one sister, Elta Rucks (Sis) and husband Ed of Bakersfield as well as daughter, Pat Gafford and son-in-law Tom Gafford; two grandchildren, Jacqueline Sacco and husband Philip Sacco, Anna Gafford and Jason Bice; three great grandchildren, Dru Denio, Jabe Garside and Allie Garside; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

Melba went to Bakersfield High School, which at that time was Kern Union High School. After high school Melba worked at DiGiorgio Farms and as a waitress for a short time. She enjoyed a successful career with Pacific Bell Telephone Company where she started as a long distance telephone operator then promoted to management as a service advisor and trained PBX Operators throughout Kern County. She retired after 35 years and loved her job and all her friends there who became lifetime friends. Melba and Stan (the love of her life) shared such great times together, snow skiing, trips to Hawaii, cruises to Alaska and Mexico and traveling throughout the United States with friends. Melba loved her family and enjoyed their family reunions with the "Campbell Family" who continue to have reunions every year. Her grand entrance will be missed - you always knew when "She" arrived. You could always be for sure that Melba was going to have a good time and everyone around had a good time as well. She was the life of the party and loved to dance. She had a sense of style that everyone took notice of and she was a beautiful lady inside and out. She was dearly loved by all her family and friends and had a special closeness with her daughter, granddaughters and great grandchildren and was the light of our life and will always be missed. We will hold our love and our beautiful memories of all our good times with our "Granny" dear to us
