Notes: from The Campbell Clan complied by Willie Mae Campbell Kelly printing 1983

Jess and Nannie (Molder) Campbell took their children and left Arkansas between 1924-1927. They traveled, worked and preached. For a while in Texas, then Jess worked several years, in the oilfields in New Mexico. Soon they traveled on west, showing the pioneer blood of his grandpa James Campbell.

After entering California, they were headed towards Bakersfield when they found a big field full of weeds. This was just the place they were looking for. Jess and Mr. Poole purchased the field, divided it in half, cleaned it up, and started erecting a home, Church, then more buildings, and they called the place Weedpatch.

There they lived the rest of their natural life. Jess and Nannie are known, far and wide, as Papa and Mama Campbell.

Weedpatch still exsists and some of the children and grandchildren make their home there. They also proudly present a Oneness Christian School
