Catherine was my great-grandmother, and the daughter of Frank Valentine Rahn and Johanna Dorothea Wagner Rahn She came to the U.S. from Germany in 1856, according to the 1900 U.S. Census. She married Philipp HerrNeckar on Sept. 26, 1865 in Utica, Oneida Co., NY, and they had two boys, Frank and George H.

Philipp died Feb. 10, 1870. Catherine was living in her father's household on the 1870 census with her two sons. She married Charles Augustus Woernley before 1875. They moved from Utica to Elmira by 1880, and then were in Hornellsville, Steuben Co., NY, by the 1900 census.

Stepson (child of Charles): Alfred Woernle (not a typo, Alfred kept the original spelling of Woernle)
