At her home, No. 111 Nielson street, died yesterday Johanna Dorothea Rahn, wife of Frank V. Rahn, in the 66th year of her age. Mrs. Rahn had been ill less than two months with Bright's disease. She was born in Saxony, but removed to America forty years ago, locating in Utica and since making this city her home. She was a woman highly respected for her many Christian virtues and a valued member of St. Paul's German Lutheran Church. Her husband and four children -- Mrs. Ann C. [Catherine] Woernley, of Hornellsville; Mrs. Anna Harnacker, of Chicago; Mrs. Mary C. Evans, of this city, and Henry Rahn, of Chicago -- survive. [Source: Utica Observer, Sat., 4 Feb 1893]
