Verne C. Schipull, 83, Independence, MO passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at New Mark Care Center in Kansas City, MO.


Verne was born June 16, 1931 in Goldfield, Iowa to parents Carl and Laura (Yanney) Schipull. Verne was united in marriage to Shirley Larson on February 3rd 1950. Verne attended Buena Vista College, Storm Lake, Iowa and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion. Verne actively participated in sports and music during his high school and college days. He was also involved singing in a Barbershop Quartet and enjoyed gardening all his life.


He was honorably discharged from the Army and returned to farming and raising livestock. His hobbies included golfing and other sporting activities.


Verne is survived by his 5 children: Rodney and wife Tonia, Michael and fiancée Caroline, Karen Schipull Gard and husband Jeff, Steve and wife Sharron, and Ronald. He is also survived by grandchildren, Whitney, Logan, Lucas, Ian and Erin.


He was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene; his parents and brothers, Harlan and Duane.
