Funeral services for Mrs. Melissa Mitchell, pioneer resident of western Canada, who died early Thursday at her residence, 1102 Second street west, were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
Born in Perth, Ontario, 85 years ago, Mrs. Mitchell came west to Winnipeg in 1880 and 22 years later moved to Calgary with her husband, the late George Mitchell, who predeceased her about two [sic] years ago.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Goodwin; one brother in Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Vera Code in Winnipeg; one grandson, Herbert Goodwin in Calgary, and a great grandson, also in Calgary.
