Clarence Cowden Woods, 94 of Pittsburg died at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday July 30, 2014 at the Via Christi Village Nursing Facility in Pittsburg.

He was born January 25, 1920 in Weir, KS the son of George Thomas and Ella May (Martin) Woods.

He was a graduate of Weir Elementary and High Schools.

He and his wife had been residents of the Pittsburg community for the past 72 years.

Clarence married Phyllis Shaw on July 3, 1942 at the Weir Baptist Church in Weir, KS; she preceded him in death on July 27, 2014.

Clarence worked for Jewell Tea Company; Hagman's, but worked most of career as an agent for the Prudential Life Insurance Company in Pittsburg.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg.

Survivors include a son David Woods and wife Carol of Shawnee, KS; a brother Alfred 'Bud' Woods of Weir; 4 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister Claudine O'Neal.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday August 4, 2014 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Reverend Gene DeWitt officiating.

Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home where friends may call after noon on Sunday.
