Mary was married to John Finley on 24 December 1781 in Botetourt County, VA according to her affidavit for pension dated Jan. 21, 1851 when she was 88 years of age. She was living with her son, Thomas Finley near Greenfield, Greene County, IL when she died. The burial location of both John and Mary is stated in a book written by Jessye Ann High (1976) called "John 'Fighting Jack' Finley and His Descendants'. She states "John died Feb. 11, 1840 at his home near Greenfield, Greene County, Illinois. Some years ago, matching tombstones for Mary and John Finley were found on a farm 4 miles west of the town of Greenfield. A concrete floor was being poured for a barn and their tombstones were thrown into the soft mixture and completely covered with concrete".
