Calvin died in a farming accident very young, My grandmother gave my dad the middle name of Calvin, my brother, and my son all carry the name Calvin.

Calvin Bozarth of Powell Butte was brought to the St Charles Hospital this afternoon probably fatally injured by a fragment from a broken flywheel. Bozarth was working on a wood saw near the Powell Butte store this morning when the flywheel of the machine flew apart. One of the fragments struck him near the knee passing through his leg. The C.P Niswonger ambulance was called from Bend at noon and the injured man was rushed to the hospital. The trip from Powell Butte to Bend was made in about one hour. It was believed at the time that the injured man had but a slight chance for life.

BEND BULLETIN December 14, 1926
The fragment went through the hip and John Calvin, "Calvin" as he was called, died that night from a shattered hip and shock. Calvin was only 17 years old. The accident happened on the R.N. Elliott ranch when a flywheel came apart into the saw sending pieces out as they were cutting wood. One of the largest pieces to enter the body below the hip joint, on the right side went clear through. Another piece entered the same leg just above the knee.
