Susie Agnes Gregson Johnson (Sudie) was born in Castleberry, Conecuh County, Alabama. She married John Claude Johnson on 4 Oct. 1911 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah. She was the younger sister of John's first wife, Katie Estelle. She was 16 years old when she traveled West by train to marry John Claude, her brother-in-law. Katie died while she and John lived in Idaho. She had requested Susie take care of her family if something were to happen to her. Susie took on this responsibility and raised Katie's children and later had 13 children of her own with John. She had an instant family but it is said she was a wise girl at age 16. They lived in Malad, Idaho for a while and then moved back to Alabama. She was known for the beautiful flowers she had in her yard. They farmed, raised a family and were loving to their children. Susie sewed all the children's clothing. They had three son's serve in WWII all of which came home safely. I remember her as a small child. She would always be so loving to me. They didn't have much but they loved their family. When we would visit her she would make us butter and sugar sandwiches on homemade bread. That was a treat to us when we went to their house. They used a building on their property for church meetings when I was small. They lived in a rural area. They were members of the Latter-day-Saint (LDS) Church and were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1965.
