Mr. Rettle, who was 81 years old and served as city treasurer from 1933 to 1935, died of a heart attack yesterday at his home at 1416 Lebanon avenue, Belleville. He had worked as a real estate appraiser since 1919 and had operated a tavern in Belleville for 17 years before the advent of prohibition.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna Rettle of the Lebanon avenue address, and two sons:
