Dies Friday
Roscoe Saunders Hays, 74, died at the Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines Friday, February 8, 1980. Services were held from the Webster-Kale Funeral Home in Osceola on Monday, February 11, with the Rev. Richard Eis conducting the 10 a m. funeral. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery.

Roscoe Saunders Hays was born December 7, 1905. in Crawford County, Iowa, son of Mondel Hays and Margaret Umbland Hays He attended schools in Crawford and Clarke counties. He was married to Mabel Bevard in Missouri on July 29. 1967 He was a member of American Legion Post 69 in Osceola and was affiliated with the Manilla Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel of Osceola, daughter, Mona Webster and husband Bill of Omaha, Nebraska, daughter Delores Luce and husband, Robert of Osceola, daughter, Gretchen VerSteegt and husband, Gerald of Lynnville. Iowa. 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, two sisters. Almarine Mateer of Osceola and Leora Loomis of Des Moines, and one brother, Chester Hays of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Gilbert, George and Sears Hays, one sister, Maxine Devol and a son, Farrell Vaughn.
