Ruth I. Bates of Dansville, formerly of Nunda, died Saturday (Mar. 4, 1989) in Noyes Memorial Hospital. She was 77.
She was born Aug. 21, 1911, in Mt. Morris, a daughter of Albert and Julia Galton. She was married to Claude Bates who died in 1974.
Surviving are a son, James of Avon; a daughter, Betty Ewell of Pike; two brothers, Howard and Burdette Galton, both of Nunda; three sisters, Helen Dieter, Leona Rymer and Dorothy Perry, all of Nunda; six grandchildren.
A service was conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Mann Funeral Home of Nunda. Burial was in Hunt Hollow Cemetery, Portage. (Genesee County Express, March 9, 1989, p4)
