Survivors include his wife, Lois Compton of Pineville; one son, James C. Compton Jr. of Saritinia, Calif.; one brother, Ed Compton of Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Cobbin and Mrs. Zeria Eubanks, both of Monroe, and one grandson.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Rush's with Rev. R.W. Coody officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Larry Compton, Butch Agent, Scottie Compton, Jerry Miller and Danny Haynes.
