Peter Donato, 81, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, in Kerrville.
The family celebrated a funeral mass Tuesday, March 1, at 9 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall with Rev. Tony Vilano officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the organist and Toni Klafka, the vocalist.
Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.
The family received friends Monday evening, Feb. 28, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.
Donato was born Nov. 30, 1923, in Italy, the son of Matteo Donato and Maria Magglizzi Donato. He was born while on a family vacation from Rochester, NY.
He married Jeanne Angelo on June 26, 1948, in Rochester, NY, and she survives.
A hardware store owner and operator, Donato was also a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
After retirement, the Donatos spent winters in Sun City Center, FL. In 2001, they moved to Fredericksburg to be near family.
In addition to his wife, Donato is survived by two daughters, Patricia Marie Donato and Lynda Ann Donato, both of Fredericksburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two brothers and two sisters.
