Theresa Frances Hannan was born on November 14, 1891, the youngest of 14 children born to Irish immigrants Patrick C. Hannan and Mary Ann Kennedy Hannan, who met and married in Ohio. Theresa Frances was born and grew up in Neola, a village in Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Theresa joined the Congregation of the Humility of Mary (CHM) just as her older sister, Sarah, had done. Her sister, Sarah, became known as Sister Mary Agnes Hannan and is also buried at Mount Olivet.

Theresa Frances joined the Sisters of Humility on August 6, 1911, and took her vows on January 3, 1914. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in science and math from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Sister taught in Georgetown, Davenport, Des Moines, Parnell, Dunlap, Cosgrove, Neola, Marshalltown (St. Mary's High School), and LeMars, all in Iowa. She retired to Begel Hall at Ottumwa Heights, the motherhouse in Ottumwa, Iowa, in 1966.

Sister Aloysius, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 1982, at Ottumwa Heights at the age of 90, following an extended illness.

A Christian Wake Service was held Friday evening, February 12, 1982, in the Magnificat Chapel at Ottumwa Heights. The Funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr. Paul Donohue on Saturday, February 13, in the Magnificat Chapel.
