Osgood Johnson, Jr. was the son of Osgood Johnson and Fannie Abbott of Andover. He graduated from Phillips Academy in 1823 and then Dartmouth College in 1828. He then returned to Phillips Academy as a teacher, assistant principal in 1829 and then became Principal in 1833. At his death a monument was erected at the expense of his students in the Chapel Cemetery.
