Orval "Shorty" Davidson, 86 of Cherokee, KS died at 6:02 pm Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Medicalodge of Pittsburg.
He was born September 3, 1927 in Midway, KS the son of Orville Davidson, Sr. and Mary June (Price) Davidson.
In 1945 he entered the Army Air Corps; he was honorably discharged in 1947.
On January 20, 1951 he was united in marriage to Imogene Badart in Bentonville, AR; she preceded him in death on October 11, 1996.
Shorty was a carpenter and worked for several construction companies.
He was a member of the American Legion in Cherokee and a past member of the Carpenters Union and American Legion in Kingsville, TX.
Survivors include four daughters: Patsy (Jon) Hedges of Girard, KS, Gayla (Kenneth) Omeck of Cherokee, Mary Davidson of Lamar, MO and Sandra McIntyre of Pittsburg; two brothers: Oliver (Pat) Davidson and Galen (Carol) Davidson both of Pittsburg; two sisters: Velda Pitts of Stockton, MO and Mary Ann Swartz of Wichita, KS along with 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers: Lyle Davidson and Wayne "Chub" Davidson, four sisters Doris Morris, Mildred Colles, Gretchen Sells and Elfie Spraggs, a foster son Tom Marshall and twin granddaughters.
Graveside services will be 1pm, Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Highland Park Cemetery with Dennis Johnson officiating. Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery for the services. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
