Oliver Hylton, age 77 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a coal miner and a self employed small engine mechanic. Oliver served his country in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division. Mr. Hylton was born May 9, 1934 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Matthew and Vina (Belcher) Hylton. He married Emley Lankster and she passed away March 12, 2008.

He is survived by his step children; Patricia Tomlinson and her significant other John LaBaume of Paris, Illinois, Theresa Wheat and her husband Jesse of Orange, California, Connie Nemeth and her husband Ronald of California, and James "Larry" Shields of Paris, Illinois, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the last of eleven siblings.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Vermilion Cemetery, Vermilion, Illinois. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 211 and VFW Post 3601.
