MRS. MARY JOHNSON

Mrs. Mary Ver Dught Johnson passed away at the Collins Memorial hospital in Knoxville, Friday the 9th of August at 2:00 p.m. She had been there about a week having been taken there the previous Sunday after a heart attack. She would have been 80 years of age on the 27th of this month.

She grew to womanhood in the Otley neighborhood and married Peter Johnson of Pella. Eight children were born to them, five of whom survive. They are Mrs. Frank Warner (Mary), of Pella; William of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; Mrs. Jacob Elliott (Lena) of Knoxville, Iowa; Mrs. C. H. McDowell (Margaret) of College Station, Texas, and Mrs. Kate Van Gorp of Pella.

She was the oldest of nine children of whom three brothers, Dave, Dirk and John Ver Dught have passed on. Three brothers are living, Case and William of Pella and Peter of Monroe. Two sisters, Mrs. Jelle Witzenburg of Ivy and Mrs. Archie Dunbar of Des Moines also survive.

Funeral services were held at the Wormhoudt Funeral Home Monday morning, August 12, at 10 00 o'clock with Prof. Tunis Prins in charge. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery.

Mrs. B. Hunter, Mrs. D. Johnson, Mrs. Peter Forkert and Arnold Newendorp of Sheldon; Mrs. Otto Kruse of Sioux City; Wm. Johnson of Boyden; Mrs. Ida Irwin of Leeds, Iowa; Ernest Sharpe of Spirit Lake and Mr. Fred V an Rheenen of Sioux City were in Pella to attend the funeral.
