Mrs. Plante was riding in her husband's car when, State Police said, it crossed the center divide and crashed head on into a car driven by Eunice Pollard, 49, of Farmingdale. NY. A third car, hit the back of the Pollard car.
The Plantes were enroute home from the University of Connecticut where they had driven their son, Peter III, a student there. Mr Plante was charged with negligent homicide and no court date was set.
Survivors in addition to her husband and son Peter G Plante III, are son Ensign Robert Plante U.S. navy; four sister Mrs. Sophie Stopa of Fairfield, Mrs. Beatrice Topor of Riverside, CA, Mrs. madeline Koczy of Bridgeport, and Mrs. Ann Kyer of Stepney and five brothers, Alexander Norkus and Albert Norkus of Bridgeport, Edward Norkus of Trumbull, Leo Norkus of Milford, and John Norkus of Danbury.
Mass of high requiem was held at St. George's church.
