Ila Mary Johnson Young, 84, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, returned to her Heavenly Father June 18, 1998 after an extended illness.

Born May 18, 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of John Arvid and Ruby Seebeck Johnson. Married David M. Young on January 3, 1939 in the Logan LDS Temple. Ila was an active and faithful member of the LDS Church serving in many ward and stake callings. She had many talents including telling retold stories, sewing, creating beautiful art objects, and teaching. She was a loving friend to everyone. Her lovely smile will be remembered with much love. Her love of the Savior was evident in her actions and example. Her selfless service will be remembered and cherished by both family and friends. Her life forged a foundation for posterity to build Christ centered lives upon.

Ila is survived by her husband, David, Midvale; daughter, Carol (Roger) Seegrist, South Jordan; son, Steven, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn (Marden) Despain, Holladay; brother, Coit (Evelyn) Erickson, Jerome, Idaho. She was close to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a son, Dale; sister, Erlyn (William) Gould; brother, Gerald (Cleone) Erickson.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 23, 1998 at the Midvale East 4th Ward, 87 East 7100 South at 12 Noon. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Midvale, Monday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
