Odum – Idell Thornton, 91, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Altamaha Health Care in Jesup surrounded by her family. She was a native and lifelong resident of Wayne County. She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm all of her life. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and tending her flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a member of Screven Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roscoe E. Sullivan and Leo Thornton, sons, Willie and Delmas "Dink" Sullivan, granddaughter, Rhonda Kay Sullivan, and parents, Robert McCall & Lillie McCall Thomas.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Aubrey Mansfield of Odum; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Marlene Sullivan of Blackshear, Edward Sullivan of Woodbine, and Carrol and Joy Sullivan of Screven; sisters, Gladys Minix of Waycross and June Carney of Green Cove Springs, FL; 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 5 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ritch Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
