Doris Delaine Grover Larsen, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Parkwood Assisted Living and went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by family.

Doris was born July 1, 1928, in Archer, Idaho, to Wesley LaVern Grover and Thelma Lucille Carlson Grover. She grew up and attended school in Archer. She graduated from Madison High School in Rexburg.

After graduating, Doris moved to Idaho Falls and began work as a telephone operator for the Mountain Bell phone company.

While living in Idaho Falls, she met Nyle C. Larsen and they were married Dec. 28, 1953, in Ely, Nev. They moved frequently with Nyle's job, living in Washington, Nevada, California and Oregon before coming back to settle in Idaho Falls. While living in Oregon, Doris accepted Christ as her personal Savior and her faith was her strength throughout her life.

Doris always had a smile and an encouraging word for everyone she met. No matter what her circumstances, she would never complain, saying that there was somebody out there who had it worse than she did. She always provided love and strength to her family and she will be greatly missed.

Doris more than anything loved having all her family together with all the chaos that brought. She especially loved her great-grandchildren and when they went to visit her, they never left empty handed. She would always send them home with a "treat."

She also enjoyed reading and could sit for hours and read, sometimes reading the same book over, but enjoying it just as much the second time. She loved camping with her family, gardening, crocheting beautiful afghans for her family and having lunch with friends.

She loved to travel and it didn't matter if it was near or far, she was always up for an adventure. She enjoyed worshiping at Berean Baptist Church, where she was a member.

Doris is survived by a daughter, Tanis (David) Kuipers of Idaho Falls; a son, Neal Craig (Heidi) Larsen of West Richland, Wash.; four grandchildren, Jason (Richie) Kuipers, Sean (Jessica) Kuipers and Krysta Kuipers, all of Idaho Falls, and Aja Pena of West Richland, Wash.; and five great-grandchildren, Elle Kuipers, Warren, Katrina and Lydia Kuipers and Elisabeth Kuipers.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Nyle; four sisters, Nina Dumont, Irene Fikstad, Gwen Sommer and Zenda Sharp; and a baby brother.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Margaret Wagner and her staff for the excellent care and compassion that they gave our mom. We also wish to thank Shalaine Edwards at Parkwood Meadows for the kind and compassionate care she gave to mom and our family.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at the Berean Baptist Church, 2975 E. First St. in Idaho Falls, with Pastor Todd Wood officiating. Dress is casual. Burial will follow in Ririe-Shelton Cemetery in Ririe. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.buckmillerhann.com.
