Fred Pforts
Fred Pforts, 64, 909 Emmett street, died Tuesday at the Veterans hospital in Iowa City.
He was born on May 15, 1894, in Des Moines County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pforts. He married the former Louise Hugg at Kahoka, Mo., on Dec. 23, 1952.
A cement construction contractor, Pforts was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Lutheran church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Burlington Gym Assn.
Surviving are his wife; two brothers, Frank of Mediapolis and Lou of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews. His parents and a brother are dead.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Giles funeral home, the Rev. G.A. Saathoff officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites at the grave.
