Lois Carol Morrison, 91, passed away Tuesday morning, June 24, 2014, in a local nursing home. Her motto in life was "shop till you drop" and that's exactly what she did, collapsing while shopping, never to recover. She was born in Butte Sept. 25, 1922, to William D. and Anna Mae (Coughlan) Abt. She attended local schools and graduated from Butte High School in 1940. She was vice president at Metals Bank in Butte and had worked there for well over 40 years when she retired.

Lois had a love affair of over 54 years with Frances "Tweed" Morrison. They were married Sept. 23, 1950, and after retirement spent all their winters in Lake Havasu City. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2005. Also preceding her in death was her parents; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lil and John Vollmer, and Alene and Howard Hamilton; brother and sister-in-law, William and Evelyn Abt; and niece, Dee Hamilton.

Survivors include her faithful friend and caregiver, Rosie Garvey of Butte; sister-in-law, Mary Hodge of Butte; nieces and nephews and their families, Bob and Linda Hodge, Marilyn and Bill Apt, Marcia and Jim Howard, Don and Regina Hamilton, Donna Ehlers, Glenn and Edna Vollmer, and Dale and Mary Ann Vollmer.

Lois was an avid golfer having aced 84 yard, Hole # 7 of the London Bridge Golf Course. Before golf, she enjoyed fishing, but never wet a line again after discovering golf. She was a classy lady who had many friends. She enjoyed her Class of 1940 luncheons, served on the board at the Legion Oasis, and will be remembered for her outside decoration for every season and holiday. The most recent highlight of her long and fantastic life was a surprise 90th birthday party hosted at the Butte Elks Club.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home with Father Patrick Beretta officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 12 noon.

Entombment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Butte Food Bank or to Our Lady of the Rockies.
