Theresa A. Gubbels, age 93 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington, NE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with the Rev. Jeffery Loseke and Rev. David Korth officiating. Burial will be at the St. Michael's Cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be on Monday, at church, from 5-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity. Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Al Ryan, James Gubbels, Joe Gubbels, Jerry Gubbels, John Gubbels, Christopher Gubbels, Michal Gubbels, and Mark Gubbels. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters Dorinda (Swenson) Smith, Julie (Gubbels) Anderson, Jennifer (Elam) Curry, and Nicole (Elam) Kopocis.

Theresa Alma Gubbels was born on August 29, 1920 in St. James, Nebraska to John Joseph and Bernadine (Peitz) Leise. She was one of nine children. Theresa grew up in St. James and then married Francis A. Gubbels Sr. on April 24, 1945 in St. James, NE. She and Francis farmed in the Pearl Creek area until 1951 when they moved to a farm east of Hartington.

Theresa loved being on the farm and the outdoors. She enjoyed mowing her yard, gardening, and caring for her animals. Theresa liked playing cards, playing the piano, and visiting with family and friends. She always had a loving and caring nature and put faith and family first. She never knew a stranger and loved to show her family pictures to many. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, the Guild, Catholic Daughters of America, and held an Hour of Perpetual Adoration at Church for many years.

Theresa is survived by her four children and spouses, Diane Ryan and friend Dan Paxton of Gillette, WY, Clifford and Betty Gubbels of Hartington, NE, Patricia and Jeffrey Elam of Omaha, NE, Francis J. and Janelle Gubbels of Hartington; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one brother Norbert Leise of Wynot, NE, 2 sisters-in-law Joan Leise and Loretta Leise.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Francis A. on November 3, 1997 at the age of 75 years; daughter-in-law Linda Gubbels; six brothers Walter, Anthony, Leonard, John, Frank and Albert Leise; infant sister Ida Leise, sister Amelia (Leise) Lammers; one brother-in-law Gerhard Lammers, sisters-in-law Julia Leise and Viola Leise.
