George and Frances, along with 9 of 11 children came to New Stark, Ohio in Hancock County in 1849 according to Ruby Bowers Dorsey, Findlay, author of "New Stark School". They were the third group of permanent residents in District 6.

1817 Indians gave up claim in Ohio-land then called Congress lands
1819 May 23, Alexander Holmes surveyed District 6
1831 First land purchased.
1834 Oct. Dan Bosserman (21), Henry Freed (42) and 3 sons of Freed, John (18), Paul (17) and Peter (16), came to pick out land, built log cabins and returned to Stark County, after 1 year.
1839 First permanent residents, Daniel Bosserman (now 26), Samuel Bosserman and John Freed, a newlywed.
1847 Peter Freed and Josiah Fite came. Fite was Freed's first father-in-law. George Ream was his second wife's father.
1850 The Ream's came.

George and Frances Ream were farmers. They lived about 1/2 mile North of main intersection of New Stark. The brick home has been remodeled and covered. George, dug medicinal herbs to supplement income for large family. There were 11 children, two born after they moved to Hancock County.
