Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Martha Jo Gaston Pitzer, age 65, of Pendergrass, who entered into rest, Friday, June 20, 2014.
Mrs. Pitzer was born in Chamblee, Georgia, the daughter of the late Walter E. and Mary Elizabeth Andrews Gaston, was retired from Mount Airy Stained Glass, was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church and attended Hope Crossing Church in Jefferson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pitzer is preceded by brothers, Oscar F. Gaston and Walter Arnold Gaston. Survivors include Husband, E. "Toby" Pitzer of Pendergrass, step-son, Lewis Todd Pitzer of Greenville, S.C., step-daughter, Samantha Leann Davis of South Carolina, adopted daughter, Shannon Kendrix of Jefferson, grandson, Brent Bruce of South Carolina, granddaughter, Madlyn Hamby of North Carolina, brother, Thomas E. Gaston Sr. of Bethlehem, two sisters, Gwen Nesbit of North Carolina and Betty Gaston Lowe of Pendergrass.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverends Chris Stephens and Joe McKenzie officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6 – 7 P.M. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice in memory of Mrs. Martha Jo Gaston Pitzer.
