Charles (Charlie) Robert Winkle, 89, Everton, passed away at 4:08 pm Saturday, October 4, in Christian Health Care, Nixa.
Charles was born Oct. 5, 1913, in Everton to Albert Harrison and Cora Iva Winkle, and was a lifelong resident of Dade County. He attended Everton Baptist Church. He was a retired Frisco track maintenance employee.
He was united in marriage to Marguerite Mead on June 22, 1935. They shared 64 years of marriage.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Glenda Morrow and her husband, William, Springfield; two sons, Hershel Winkle and his wife, Desiree, Amarillo, Texas and Leroy Winkle and his wife, Twila, Fulton, Missouri; a brother, Monta Winkle and his wife, Alma, Kennewick, Wash.; six sisters, Audrey Wooten and her husband, James, Jamestown, Calif., Reba Dill, Sutter Creek, Calif., Ruthie Aleshire, Greenfield, Mo., Nadine Dickerson, Modesto, Calif., Dorothy Lytle, Manteca, Calif., and Betty Vaughn, Leeton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Anica Addison, Emily Winkle, Cassie Kent, Charles Winkle II,; three great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, in Birch Funeral Home, Everton, with the Rev. Harold Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery, north of Everton, under direction of Birch Funeral Home of Everton.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 pm today, Tuesday, in the funeral home.
