John K Shaw was at Iowa stating he was divorced on the 1900 census; Lucena and her children were on the 1875 census at Dickinson and John K was not in the home. I do see the name on the stone for John Cota is "Cotey", I did see her son's name on the 1875 census as Cotey, but when Lucena went for her Widow's Pension, John's name was as "Cota". John's parents are Francis and Elizabeth (Armstrong) Cota. If I am reading Elizabeth's name correctly, she was Betsey (Armstrong) Brown when Frank married to her. You can see in the two Registers of Deaths of Volunteers, he is given as John S Cotey in one, and as John S Cota in the other.
