Son of Edward III and his wife Rebecca of Tiverton, Rhode Island. This Edward was a ship's captain and merchant between Newport, R.I. and France. His father Edward III was also a shipping merchant and was lost at sea in a shipping accident in 1722 when Edward IV was only one yr. old.
Edward IV married Mary Wellman of Killingsworth CT c. 1750 at Killingsworth, and their 4 children were all born at Killingsworth (later renamed Clinton, CT).

Edward IV died intestate in 1760, at age 39, and Gray Family records indicate burial in "unknown" site. Mary was left with 4 very young children, the youngest under one year of age. No record has been found to date of her death or any remarriage. Wellman family records have multiple references to Mary and Edward's children.
