Donald LeRoy Chivington, age 79, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, January 7, 1996. He was born December 8, 1916, in Isabella County, Michigan, the son of Samuel and Ethel (Roberts) Chivington. He married Althea Louise Gifford on May 6, 1960.
Mr. Chivington attended The Tri-County Worship Center in Auburn, Michigan and was in care of maintenance at the First United Methodist Church for many years. He was one of the founders of the Wanigas Federal Credit Union and retired from Saginaw Division after 44 years of service.
He served his country in the United States Air Force in China, Burma and India Theatres.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 11, 1996, at The Tri-County Worship Center, 609 West Midland Road in Auburn, Michigan (across from Western High School on West Drive), with the Reverend Arthur R. Ortega officiating and interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, in Saginaw, Michigan.
Military honors will be observed at the cemetery under the auspices of the V.F.W. Post #1566.
Friends are welcome to call on the family at The Reitz-Herzberg Funeral Home on Midland Road on Tuesday evening, from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. and on Wednesday, from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. and at the church on Thursday one hour before the time of service.
Memorial offerings may be directed to the Allen Hospice.
He is survived by his wife, Althea, his son, Brad (Claire) Chivington, of Perrysburg, Ohio; his daughter, Joyce (Dave) Richmond, of Rhinelander, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, his mother, Ethel Chivington and many loving relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death, by his father, Samuel and his sister, Lila McCulloch.
