In memory of Patrick Chalmers Esquire of Aldbar for many years a Merchant in London. He was born at Aldbar on the 19th day of January AD 1777 died there on the 8th day of Decembr 1826. Also of Frances Inglis his wife who died at Aldbar on the 10th day of February 1848 in the 70th year of her age
Outside the walls of this Chapel are interred the mortal remains of Patrick Chalmers Esquire of Aldbar, late Captain in H.M 3rd Dragoon Guards sometimes member of Parliament for the Montrose District of Burghs Author of the Sculpted Monuments of Angus He re-edified this chapel in the year 1853 died at Rome on June the 23rd 1854
