Fay D. Bowers-Holland, 78, a life-long resident of Douglas County, passed away August 28 at Central Washington Hospital. She was born a twin, at home in Waterville, WA, on January 4, 1935, to Robert and Annie Reid. Fay graduated from Waterville High School in 1953. She served 16 years as the first female Deputy Sheriff in Douglas County. Fay loved sports of all kinds. She was an avid Shocker fan and scorekeeper for the basketball team for many, many, years. She spent significant time bowling, fishing, gardening and Rebekah's lodge work. Fay was married to Chet Bowers in 1971, until his death in 1997. She found love again to a long-time friend, Frank Holland, and they were married on Chet and Fay's anniversary, November 3, 1998.
Fay is survived by her loving husband, Frank Holland; and his five daughters. Also surviving are her step-sister, Alice Zones; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Ramin, Verna Hyman, Doris Andrew, Kay Smith; and brothers Ralph and Carroll Reid.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Waterville Federated Church; 224 W. Ash Street in Waterville, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Those who wish to donate in Fay's name may choose their own favorite charity. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA.
