Alvina Ludwig Hartmann was born Feb. 23, 1910 in Burton to Christ and Minnie Ludwig and died Sept. 17, 2003 in Rosenberg. She was baptized on Good Friday in 1910 and confirmed April 18, 1924.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1208 Fifth St. in Rosenberg. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.Viewing will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003 at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home in Rosenberg, and family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Alvina graduated from Beasley High School and attended San Marcos Training School receiving her teaching permit in 1929. Her first assignment to Seiler School marked the beginning of her 45 year teaching career in the Lamar School District with the majority of her years spent in the elementary grades.

She married Norbert Hartmann on Christmas Eve of 1935 and celebrated 51 years of marriage. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring friend and an outstanding educator. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was a faithful Sunday school teacher for over 30 years and participated in the choir.

Alvina was preceded in death by her husband Norbert; grandson Bailey; brothers Walter and Alvin Ludwig; and sister Malinda Graeber.

She is survived by her sons Norbert Hartmann Jr. and his wife Eileen, of Monmouth, Ore.; Lloyd Hartmann and wife Jennifer, of Richmond; granddaughter Hope Bradberry of Fayetteville, Ark.; great-grandson Jake Bradberry of Fayetteville, Ark.; brothers Otto Ludwig of Rosenberg; Ed Ludwig of Houston; Louis Ludwig of Needville; and Reuben Ludwig of Beasley; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kevin, Chuck, Mark and Jim Ludwig, Nicholas Kubelka, and Roy Schmidtzinsky. Honorary pallbearers will be Stan Kubelka, Milton Wright, and Dick Stadnicky.
