Robert grew up in Evansville Wisconsin, the son of Ray and Harriet Hubbard. He joined the National Guard, 32nd Tank Battalion in 1939. This unit was nationalized in November 1940 into Company A, 192nd Tank Battalion. Robert was held as a prisoner of war during WWII as part of "The Janesville 99". He died of dysentery at Hoten Camp, Mukden, Manchuria. His remains were returned to Evansville after the war. He is buried here alongside his parents.
