Willie Joe Carter, 82, of Monroe, died Monday, May 26, 2014.
He was born in Barrow County on June 17, 1931, to Estell Spence Carter and Clarence Carter.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Carter, of Monroe; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Randall Hawk, of Monroe; sons and daughter-in-law, James A. and Shirley Carter, of Monroe, Tim Carter, of Monroe, and Stanley Carter, of Monroe; as well as nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 29, in the chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Ramsey officiating. Burial followed at Hill Haven Memory Gardens.
