Pekin, IL - Elsie Jane Mahr, 93, formerly of 311 Derby St., died at 11:23 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Morton Villa Nursing Center in Morton.

Born Nov. 23, 1905, in Havana to George W. and Nettie Ford Batterton, she married Matthew A. Mahr on May 5, 1922, in Keokuk, Iowa. He died Sept. 26, 1992.

She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Doris Loretta, one brother, four sisters and two great-grandchildren.

Surviving are one son, Melvin (Mary) Mahr of Pekin; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Etta) Sidell of Pekin and Wanda Wasion of Kenosha, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Elmer (Veronica) Batterton of La Plata, Md.

She worked at American Distillery until World War II and then was employed by Caterpillar Inc. and the A.B.C. factory. She later worked at Wilson School.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Burial will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito.
