George was raised on the Fiedorowicz homestead in Beaver and attended the Coleman Schools. He was very active in sports: football, basketball and track; and graduated in 1956. George attained a bachelors degree in education from the University of Wisconsin - Steven's Point (UWSP) in 1960 and a masters degree in education administration from the University of Denver (Colorado) in 1961.
After college, George headed west and landed his first teaching job in Sacramento, Calif.; where he met Carolyn Everett. He and Carolyn taught for one year in Sacramento and then headed east to Cherry Hill, New Jersey and taught one year there.
George and Carolyn were married in Virginia on October 20, 1962, and at the end of the school year, moved to Wisconsin. George taught at Menominee High School (Michigan), Coleman High School, and Crivitz High School.
In 1967, he also began a landscaping company during the summer. Eventually, he gave up teaching and was a salesman for McKay Nursery Company selling trees and shrubs and making custom cabinetry in the winter. George and Carolyn eventually settled in Beaver on part of the homestead and raised four children: Lee, Ryan, Kyle and Brooke. They divorced in 1995.
Fiedorowicz Cabinetry and Landscaping flourished as a family business. All the children worked for George at some point in their lives. The landscaping division developed with the help of his youngest son, Kyle.
Earlier this year, George turned over the landscaping business to Kyle, but George continued to work, remaining active in the daily business operations. George was a devoted Packer fan, active in local high school athletics (including coaching) and ran track at UWSP.
He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and woodworking and he loved fishing. Throughout the years, George fished in Alaska, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Hawaii and most recently Mongolia. He was planning a trip to South Africa. In the winter months, he could be found fishing on the icy northern lakes of Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and North Dakota.
George is survived by his ex-wife, Carolyn;
sons: Lee (Christine) Fiedorowicz, Ryan Fiedorowicz, Kyle (Sara) Fiedorowicz;
and daughter, Brooke (David) Running.
two grandsons (with a third on the way);
his two brothers: John and Peter and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation service is planned for Saturday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, 801 George St., Crivitz.
