MRS. TOM STAGGS
Mrs. Minnie Pearl Staggs, 87, died Tuesday night at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Alvan Hollenbeck, of near here. She had been ill for six months.
Mrs. Staggs was born July 31, 1878 in Knox County, near Plevna, a daughter of William and Mary Jane Applegate.
She was married to John Thomas Staggs on Dec. 20, 1896, who preceded her in death several years ago. She had lived in Shelby County for nearly 70 years.
Surviving are the following children, Lee V. Staggs of Shelbyville, Roy Staggs of Atlanta, Illinois, and Mrs. Bertha Jane Hollenbeck, at whose home she died; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
Three children- Charles Ellis, Ruth May, and Ethel Lucy, preceded her in death.
Greening Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. The body will be taken to the home of Mr. & Mrs. Alvan Hollenbeck this evening to lie in state until the funeral hour.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Shelbyville Christian Church with burial in the Pleasant Prairie Cemetery.
