She was the daughter of Samuel Norwood. She married Rev. Jesse Mitchell, 6 October 1818, Blount Co., Tennessee.

MITCHELL, Mrs. Providence, was born in Tenn. Sept 8, 1800, and died in Polk Co, Mo., May 18, 1881. Maiden name was Norwood. Was married to Rev. Jesse Mitchell, Oct 6, 1818, and became a widow in 1854 when he was traveling the Stockton Circuit,. Mother of 15 children, 9 now living. Two are local preachers and Rev. Jesse Mitchell is an itinerant. She has 61 living descendants. Called "Aunt Provvie". (published 22 June 1881)
