Benjamin Franklin (B F) Mitchell was born in Tennessee in 1830 and moved to Missouri before 1840. He married Clarrisa Emily Casey March 6, 1849. Five children, William, James, Margaret, Emily and Sarah were born before 1860. He was killed in Mississippi during the battle of Vicksburg on July 17, 1863.
