Fred Meyer was born at Glenwood, Iowa on July 29, 1893 and died at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha on November 8, 1959.
He came to Nebraska at the age of nine with his parents, living on a farm. He spent several months overseas in World War I.
He was married on January 27, 1920 to Mary Hawthorne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hawthorne of Fullerton. Eight children were born to them, seven of whom survive.
He was baptized and confirmed into Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church at Fullerton, and was a member of Fred Philbrick Post of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Elmer of Belgrade, Leland of Fullerton, William of Kennard and Donald (Gene) of Palmer; three daughters, Mrs. Violet Anderson of Palmer, Mrs. Ruby Zipf of Columbus and Joyce at home. A son,
Lawrence died in 1944 in the service of his country. Two brothers, Frank and Robert and three sisters, Mrs. Leota Eckels, Mrs. Minnie Thanel and Mrs. Annabel Held, also survive him.
Funeral services were conducted on November 11 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church by Rev. Hugo Leimer and burial was in the Fullerton Cemetery.
