Mrs. W. S. Ratliff Succumbs Sunday After Long Illness
Mrs. Myrtle Elizabeth Ratliff, age 76, of Kings Mountain, Route 1, died Sunday at the Waynesburg Rest Home after an illness of several years.
She was born in Floyd County, the daughter of the late Elza W. and Sally Dotson May, who preceded her in death. She lived here most of her life. She was a housewife and was a member of the Science Hill Christian Church. Her husband, Mr. U.S. Ratliff, preceded her in death.
She is survived by three children, Tate Ratliff, Route 1, Kings Mountain, Mrs. Winnie Phillippe and Mrs. Maggie McMullin, Waynesburg; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; four step-daughters, Mrs. Verna Lester, Science Hill, Mrs. Mae Dingus, Irvine, Texas; Mrs. Julia Clary, California and Mrs. Edna Hasler, Clinton, Ill.; five brothers, L. J. May, Waynesburg; J. L. May, Hustonville; Joe May, Waynesburg, Rote 3; Taylor May, Eubank, Route 1, and Harry May, Waynesburg, Route 1, and two sisters, Louada Burke, Prestonsburg, and Mrs. Sally Gourley, Waynesburg.
Services were conducted at the Barnett Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Fred Hill.
Burial was in Freedom Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Barnett Funeral Home.
