Elzie and Sallie May migrated from Floyd Co. to southern Lincoln Co. in 1910. Their journey lasted about a week, because they traveled by horse and wagon and drove their livestock with them. The Mays were accompanied on the trip by eight of their nine children. Lovada, the oldest daughter, remained in Floyd Co. The other children - Leander, Joe, Harry, John, Taylor, Mertie Ratliff, Lydia Salyers, and Sally Gourley - made their home with their parents on a 500 acre farm on Ellison Ridge.
