MRS. L. V. POWERS DIES AT 77 YEARS
Former Winterset Resident Had Been Living in Indianola
Mrs. L. V. Powers of Indianola, a Winterset resident for many years, died March 5 at Indianola. She was 77 years of age.
Mrs. Powers was the former Zella Muriel King, daughter of Amberry and Jane Sayre King. She was born near St. Charles, Sept 29, 1888. Her early life was spent in that community.
She was married to Lawrence V. Powers at Hanley on March 10, 1915. They lived for a few years in South Dakota, then returned to Iowa in 1921 to make their home in Winterset. They lived here until 1947, when they moved to Indianola. Her husband preceded her in death.
Her first church membership was at Elm Grove Methodist. Later she was a member of the First Methodist church in Winterset, then at Indianola.
She is survived by four children, Mildred Powers of Indianola, Maurice Powers of Winterset, Mrs. George Burns of Indianola and Robert Powers of Winterset; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Corkill of Waukegan, Ill.
Funeral services were held March 7 from the First Methodist church at Indianola, with the Rev. Glen W. Lamb officiating. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
