Mother Barbara Louise Ashe Blue, 79, of Crescent City, was ushered safely into the arms of her Heavenly Father surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 10, 2014.

A native and lifelong resident of Crescent City, she was the daughter of John A. and Icie Ola (Rush) Ashe, born on Saturday, Feb. 23, 1935. She attended Middleton Junior High School in Crescent City and was a graduate of Central Academy High School in Palatka. Barbara subsequently pursued higher education at Volusia County Community College in Daytona Beach, as well as St. Johns River Community College in Palatka. She united in holy matrimony to Leo Blue on May 24, 1958, in Seville. At an early age, Barbara received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. She served faithfully as "church mother" of Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ. "Mother Blue" life's mission was thoroughly for the sake of the gospel and she labored until declining health prevailed. Her hobbies included fishing, sewing and singing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her siblings, Annie Mae Colbert-Berry, Monroe Ashe, Emanuel Ashe, Ethel Lee Moore, John A. Ashe Jr., Aldora Floyd, Ophelia O'Neal, Meltona Simmons, and Albert Ash.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: loving husband of 55 years, Leo Blue Sr., Crescent City; daughters and sons, Robin Curry, Pamela (Pastor Emanuiel Sr.) Roberts, Larry (Stacey) Blue, and Leo Blue Jr., all of Crescent City; 10 grandchildren, Derrick (Melanie) Blue, Emanuiel (Melissa) Roberts Jr., Kenneth (Sarah) Roberts, Christopher (Aaronda) Roberts, Carmen Blue, Larry Blue Jr., Alexus Kelly, Timothy Kelly, Jakymia Lane Collins, and Jackie Sam; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Stafford, New York City, N.Y., Lee Etta Dowell, Philadelphia, Pa; sisters-in-law, Essie Mae Thomas, Cherry (Corey) Williams, and Carolyn Edwards; devoted friend, Mother Ruby (Pastor Harry) Banks; god-children, Hattie (Elder Keith) Banks and Tanya Warren; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and caring friends.
