Mr. Bonner was the second youngest of seven children born to the union of Wesley M. Bonner and Caroline A. Frazier, who married in Franklin Parish on December 31, 1878.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Paul Bonner and Charles McDonald Bonner; and two sisters, Sallie Bonner Hitt and Agnes Bonner Holloway.

He was survived by his wife, Emma Dee Bonner; three daughters, Fannie Elizabeth Bonner, JoAnn Mangold, and Sallie Bonner Woods; two sons, Mark Herbert Bonner, Jr. and Karl P. Bonner; and two sisters, Bessie Bonner Mason and Edith Lena Bonner.
